I‘ve really gotten back into running recently, albeit on the treadmill due to the rubbish weather we’ve been having but I’m really loving getting back to it. The one thing that drives me mad when I am running though is my earphones & the wire dangling about. I’ve tried running the wire through my top but just end up pulling the buds out of my ears. I’ve tried resting my phone on the top of the screen of the treadmill so the wire is away from my arms, but then I end up pulling my phone off or pulling the wire out. The answer to this has been to go wireless.
I’ve been trying out a great piece of fitness kit called RunPhones. It’s basically two small speakers embedded in a headband that connects to your phone or MP3 player via Bluetooth with no wires, I love them!
I’ve got to admit I was a little unsure at first, I like my music loud when I run. I’m a Chase & Status and The Prodigy kind of runner, I really need that hard beat to keep my pace up and was a bit apprehensive as to whether I could get that from headphones that don’t actually go in the ear. But I needed have worried, the sound quality is fab.
I thought they might be a bit chunky and look daft but they look just like any standard headband, although you might say I still look daft! Even when running they don’t slip or move, so no constant fiddling about like I have to do with my old earphones. I even forgot I was wearing them when I left the gym & almost had a heart attack when my phone rang through them.
There’s no need to be worried about hygiene either as the speakers are removable so they can be washed along with the rest of your gym gear.
I’ve given them a full testing doing both high intensity cardio and free weights at the gym and haven’t been tempted to go back to my old earphones once, these are well and truly a part of my essential gym kit now. £69.99 does feel expensive initially but if you’re a keen runner or jogger then I’d definitely recommend them.
They are available to order direct from Runphones or via Amazon
